3 X 1 mile with 400 meter recovery, 12 total. I ran 10 in the morning with the three one mile intervals and added 2 at night. My goal pace was 5:10. I ran the first mile in 5:08.8 and that felt pretty good. I ran 76, 77, then 2:35 for the last 800, and I felt fairly relaxed. In the next interval, I ran 5:08.5, 2:37 for the first 800, then 77, 74. I ran the last interval in 5:08.3, I split it pretty much the same as the second interval. I think this was a good workout. Last year I ran the same one at 5:20 pace with more difficulty I think. I run 2 miles later in the evening.

10 easy miles, 8 in the morning and 2 at night. I didn't feel sore at all from the workout yesterday.

I ran a rather interesting 3 mile tempo run today. Dad told me to start out in 5:10(which is about 10 seconds per mile faster than my PR pace) for the first mile and see what happens. I ran 5:11 for the first mile, then ran about 2:40 for the next 800. After that, I started running out of juice so I slowed down significantly and had 5:29 at the mile. I basically held the same pace to the finish with the last mile in 5:36. I tried kicking but couldn't get myself to speed up. I think a lot of this was mental, I was feeling an anxious, nervous sort of feeling especially in the last mile that was holding me back a lot. In fact, the first mile almost felt easier than the other ones even though it was a lot faster. My overall time was 16:16.
